About the club
A club for the heart of Memphis.
We're the neighborhood club for the bluest part of Memphis — a regular room where Midtowners meet the people on their ballot, learn what's actually at stake, and organize for the community we live in.
What we're for
Politics is a neighborhood activity.
Midtown is where Memphis keeps its murals, its record stores, its hundred-year-old bungalows — and a whole lot of its Democrats. What it needed was a club: a regular room where neighbors could meet candidates, understand their ballots, and organize together.
That's the work. We register voters at markets and campuses, write postcards and knock doors for candidates who need Midtown behind them, bring officials in front of the people they represent, and run service projects with local partners in the long stretches between elections.
We do it alongside sister clubs like the Collierville Democrats Club, as part of a countywide effort to build Democratic community in every corner of Shelby County. If you've ever said "somebody should organize Midtown" — congratulations, you're somebody.
Educate. Organize. Show up.
We inform voters about local, state, and federal issues; we organize Midtown's Democratic energy into real results; and we show up for our neighbors and our community — election year or not.
Affiliation
We're part of the Shelby County Democratic Party family of neighborhood clubs, aligned with the platforms of the Tennessee Democratic Party and the Democratic National Committee.

Your first meeting, demystified.
Walking into a room of strangers is the hardest part of getting involved. Here's exactly what to expect — no surprises, no obligations.
- Come as you are. Straight from work, with kids in tow, brand new to politics — all normal here.
- No test at the door. You don't need to be a member, a policy expert, or even a lifelong Democrat. Curiosity is enough.
- A typical agenda: a welcome, a guest speaker or candidate, quick club business, and time to actually talk to your neighbors.
- About an hour. We respect your evening. Stick around after if you want — plenty of us do.
- Leave with one thing to do. If you want it, we'll send you home with one small, concrete way to help.
We're still settling into a permanent home, so the email list is the surest way to know where and when.

Do I have to live in Midtown?
Nope. Midtown is our home base, but anyone who shares our values is welcome — plenty of members come from across Memphis and Shelby County.
Do I need to be a registered Democrat?
Tennessee doesn't have party registration at all — so no. If you share our commitment to democracy and community, you belong here.
Does it cost anything?
Meetings are free and open to everyone. Membership details are being finalized as the club gets off the ground — joining the email list is the best first step.
How is the club connected to the party?
We're a neighborhood club in the Shelby County Democratic Party family, which is aligned with the Tennessee Democratic Party and the DNC. Club membership is separate from any official party role.

Midtown is worth organizing.
Every institution Midtown loves started with a handful of neighbors in a room. This is that room — pull up a chair.
